Two’s a charm! Basicgrey Porcelain Line Baby

Posted by scrapbook on September 1, 2009 under Idea, Page Idea | Be the First to Comment

This layout makes you just say “awww!” Like many of the layouts i’ve shown, this one uses a lot of popular techniques. I love the use of different paper products. From the edged paper, to the torn notebook page, this page looks very  complete. It has the perfect balance. I think that usually we tend to use more ebellishments, but i like how this page uses little ebellishments, and more paper accents. Try using the same techniques in more of our layouts. Or try and turn this page into a two-paged layouts. Have a Fabulous week!!

Small scalloped scissors brown journaling pen

Photos needed/one 5½” x 7” vertical photo

Instructions/

1 Trim bar code strips off 12” x 12” sheet of Silver Birch.

2 Attach 1½“x 12” strip of Bellamy vertically so that is flush with the right side of sheet of Silver Birch.

3 Trace a decorative sheet of cardstock (or use an Accucut die to cut) onto 8” x 12” piece of Villeroy. (Note that the piece of Villeroy will not cover the entire cardstock template.) Cut out.

4 Mount piece of Villeroy with the straight edge flush with the left edge of the Bellamy strip and centered top to bottom on the sheet of Silver Birch.

5 Place photo onto piece of Villeroy so that it is flush with the left edge of the Bellamy strip and centered top to bottom. This is for placement only – DO NOT ADHERE.

6 Tuck 8” x 2½” piece of Langley horizontally under photo as shown in the example and lightly mark where the photo overlaps it. Journal in the unmarked area, making sure to leave room at the top for paper to be slightly overlapped, and at the bottom for the edges to be frilled. Erase pencil lines.

7 Mount the 3/8” x 8” strip of Hampton horizontally across the longest edge of strip of Empress Cream. Use scalloped scissors on exposed edge of Empress Cream to create a decorative edge.

8 Mount this combined Hampton/Empress Cream strip to the top edge of the Langley journaling block with the scallops pointing up.

9 Using a hole punch (or a Crop-a-Dile) create a punched border approximately ¼” up from the bottom edge of the journaling block. Use scissors to cut from the bottom up to each hole so that it resembles the edge of a sheet of notebook paper.

10 Apply strip of Stafford so that it partially overlaps the left side of the photo and hangs off the top edge by approximately ½”.

11 Mount photo into the empty section of the journaling block.

12 Mount photo with journaling block to piece of Villeroy so that its right side is flush with the left edge of the bellamy strip and centered top to bottom.

13 Cover chipboard title “TWO” with Empress Cream. Carefully cut away excess with sharp craft knife. File edges to remove excess paper. Ink edges and trace letters with brown journaling pen if desired. Mount title above journaling block as shown.

14 Use brown journaling pen to draw faux stitching as shown if de-sired.

15 thread pink floss through three buttons and tie in a knot. Mount two buttons to the top right corner of the photo as shown. Mount one button to the bottom left edge of the photo as shown.

Posted by scrapbook on August 21, 2009 under Idea, Page Idea | Read the First Comment

What a precious layout! This Basicgrey layout is based off of the Marrakech line. This layout has a lot going on, but it all blends together. I love the hole-punched layered look in the top left-hand corner and bottom right-hand cornerof this page. The colors seem to wrap the photo in a glow. It makes the picture that much more serene. This layout may be a bit more challenging, but i think the results are fabulous! Also make sure to try and use these techniques on other layouts!
