 Now that spring is finally here, I love to take pictures of the flowers in boom. This new layout heather made displays them beautifully! This new page was made using a combination of different scrapbooking companies. This layout is all about flowers and many different flowers were used. You get to learn how to make all of them and more right here on this blog. Another thing that we used a lot of in this layout is the i-topper. The i-topper is a brad-making tool from chatterbox. This tool is a super fun way to create personalized brads in a few easy steps. The i-topper can work with mostly any material, including: candy wrappers, fabric, ribbon, paper, photos and much more. In this layout, we mostly made paper brads. The i-topper can really add that extra something to a layout or page!

Here’s how to put this page together:

step one: use cream cardstock as base page.

step two: cut brown cardstock th 9 1/4″ x9 1/2″ and adhere to right side of page.

step three: cut floral patterned paper to 9″x 9 1/4″ and adhere on top of  brown cardstock.

step four: cut green cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and adhere on top of floral patterned paper.

step five: adhere cream journaling block on top of green cardstock and to right side of page.  

step six: adhere die cut “f” to top left corner of the layout.

step seven: using a pink  marker color white alphabet stickers pink and add to title, finishing the word “flowers”.

step eight: add brads and flowers to layout. 

Here are the insructions to creating a variety of  Fabulous Flowers:

1.  The Fabric Yo-Yo Flower

Using fabric, thread, needle and button, cut a piece of fabric into a 3 ½” circle. Thread needle and tie a knot at the end. Run needle through fabric about ¼” from the top sewing around entire circle. Gently pull thread so that fabric begins to gather and form a circle. Once the fabric is gathered tie a knot at the end and cut off excess thread. Embellish with a button or an i-top brad.

2. The Ribbon Flower

Cut a 12” piece of satin or sheer ribbon. Thread a needle and tie a knot at the end. Run a needle through the fabric about ¼” from the edge. Gently pull the thread to gather the ribbon into a circle, tie a knot at the end and cut off excess thread embellish with a button or an i-top brad.

3. Layered Chipboard Flower

Layer silk or paper flowers with buttons and chipboard.

4. Layered Button Flower

Layer multiple button sizes on top of each other.

5. Fan Fold Flower

Cut two 2” x 12” pieces of patterned paper. Fan fold each piece of paper every ½” and adhere both ends together. Place a small amount of glue on a piece of paper of cardstock and press the center of the flower into adhesive. Place some weight on the flower until adhesive is dry. Add a button to the center of the flower.

6. Flower from Grosgrain Ribbon

Draw a spiral shape in pencil on either your layout or base page. Cut a 14” piece of ribbon and adhere ¼” super tacky tape to the backside of the ribbon. Starting from the outside edge and following your pattern, adhere ribbon to page, folding ribbon every ½”. Continue to center of flower. Embellish with a button or an i-top brad.

7. Flower from paper strips

Cut ¼” strips from patterned paper and adhere on top of each other to create this flower.  Embellish with a button or an i-top brad.

8. 5-Petal Flower Pattern

Materials: any size crochet hook (depending on what size flower you want), any weight yarn.

Rnd 1: Ch 5 join into a ring w/sl st in 1^st ch.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 9 dc in ring, join to top of ch w/sl st—10 sts.

Rnd 3:  **Ch 2 work 3 dc in next st, ch 2 sl st in next st** five times. Fasten off

For a different color center, try changing yarn colors after found 2. Experiment with different weight yarns and hook sizes. To layer a slightly smaller flower on top, go down one hook size from larger flower.

9. Stacked Flowers

Stack flowers from tissue paper, patterned paper and felt. All flowers and materials are either punched or cut from circles and layered.

10.  The Fabric Flower-using fabric

Cut fabric 1 ½” wide and 14” long. Begin with center of the rose by folding down one end of the strip on an angle and then fold fabric in half. The flower is formed by twisting and folding fabric into a spiral formation.

I just made a tag book from Creative Imaginations line, “Magic”. “Magic”, by Creative Imaginations, is made especially to coordinate perfectly with disney theme parks and products. This line is a perfect way to scrapbook your disney pictures.

Here are instructions on how to make this super cute “magic” tag book:

Materials:
3 large CCafe Tags-red spirit #18089

Supplies Needed:
12″ Paper trimmer
glue sticks
glue dots
crop-a-dile
stapler
black ZIG pen for outlining

Instructions:

1. alternate the large red, white and nuetral tags and bind them togetherusing the white binder ring.
2. use three black buttons on the coverof the book, to create a mouse head. affix the buttons with glue dots to the cover page.
3. decorate or journal on each tag, adding photos to every other tag.
4. cut various lengths of ribbon in coordinating colors and textures and tie to the white binder ring. use the creative cafe tickets, magic epoxy and oher magic stickers as embellishments!

While going through my everyday routines, I’ve come across a few very CLEVER and super cute Christmas ideas. They don’t even necessarily have to be used for the holiday, but could be made using a variety of different products from any company. Just a few fun and easy gift ideas to help us get through these last few days!

Glass Tile Charm Tutorial
1. Choose an image from either scrapbook paper, or one of your personal photos that fits your glass tile.
2. Apply Diamond glaze over the textured side of the glass, place image on the textured side of the glass so you can see the image through the non textured side of glass. Work out air bubbles by applying pressure. Let Dry.
3. Trim any excess paper off with scissors.
4. If your paper is not 2 sided or if you do not like the image on the reverse, use any metallic looking paper stock for the backing of the pendant by applying a thin layer of Diamond Glaze or Mod Podge over the back of the paper or photo you used for the pendant. Apply the metallic paper to the back of your pendant. Let Dry.
5. Apply diamond glaze to the back of the glass pendant to protect it and give it a glossy look. You may also use any sealant that dries clear (it does not have to be diamond glaze.)
6. Attach a stainless steel bail with crazy glue, to the back of pendant. Let dry.
7. Enjoy wearing and getting nice compliments on your unique creation.

Cocoa Tin Gift Idea

Here is another gift idea for under $10 that will surely warm your heart.  Today Laura Vegas shows us how to make this fun cocoa tin for the holidays.

 

Cinnamon stick jar
1. Purchase a jar of cinnamon sticks and peel off the store label.
2. Cut a rectangle from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card and adhere to the jar.
3. Use Making Memories’ tiny alpha letter stickers to label the jar “cinnamon sticks.”
4. Tie some string to the top of the jar.

 Cocoa powder pouches and marshmallow pouch
1. Purchase cocoa powder and mini marshmallows and add to clear baggies.  Seal shut.
2. Cut a scalloped square from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card. Fold in half.
3. Wrap some string around one side of folded square and adhere over the top of the bags.
4. Use Making Memories’ tiny alpha stickers to label what is inside of bag.

 Metal tin box and tag
1. Cut two tag shapes of varying sizes from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card. Adhere to each other using pop dots.
2. Using Making Memories’ glitter letter stickers and tiny alpha stickers to put the recipient’s name on the tag.
3. Add a small Fa La La glitter foam tree sticker to the tag.
4. Tie a Fa La La trim around the tin and add the tag using a safety pin.

Creative Bows

Using Making Memories “St. Nicholas” 

 

As you are preparing your holiday gifts, try this great idea.  Make your holiday bows using double-sided paper.

1. Cut double-sided paper to 3″ x 12″.
2. Cut into 1/2″ x 12″ strips and punch small holes near ends as well as every 3 7/8″ increments.
3. Slip end hole of strip onto brad.
4. Take next hole on strip, loop up towards brad, twist outward 180 degrees and slip onto brad.
5. Repeat for remaining holes and strips, then open prongs of brad to securely hold paper.
6. Adjust loops for even spacing.
7. If additional loops are desired and first brad is at capacity, use second brad to create additional loops then glue to center of first loop arrangement.

With Only a Few days left until Christmas, i know we are all frazzled and needing those few last minute gifts. You all know what im talking about, the gifts for the coworker or the neighbor. A Gift you really don’t want to spend a lot of money on, but you want it to look nice. While today i bring you a perfect idea! I came across this the other day and realized it was too good to not share! Making Memories Line Mistletoe is one of my favortie  Christmas lines this year, the bright colors make any project pretty and fun, while helping us look back on the memories of the special season. In this project they used the Making Memories Mistletoe line to create a CD holder! Music is something that is dear to my heart, and i know that it can give off the message that you want to give to friends, and family, that you might not otherwise be able to express. Purchase Making Memories “Mistletoe” Products

Follow these easy instructions to create this gift idea. 

1. Cut two 12” x 5 ½” strips of patterned paper from Making Memories’ Mistletoe collection.

2. Adhere pieces together with the desired pattern on the outside.

3. Lay the adhered piece in front of you lengthwise. Use a bone folder and ruler to create a fold mark at 5 ½” and 11”

Note: You can add additional strips of paper to the front and back of piece if you want to see more patterns.

4. Trim a 5 ½” x 3 ½” piece of patterned paper. This will be used for the CD pocket. Put adhesive three sides and adhere to the inside of CD holder.

 

 

5. Decorate CD holder as desired.

Christmas time is my favorite time of the year. Recently all my favorite Christmas songs have been popping up when I’m listening to my iTunes library. One of the best parts about this holiday is the yummy treats!! One of our favorite family traditions is to each choose a favorite cookie, or bar, and we all work together to make them for Christmas Eve. We then finish them up Christmas morning while opening presents. At CHA this summer I took this class from Imaginsce. They took the idea of a classic mini-album and turned it into the clever idea of a Christmas favorite recipes book.  I love the idea and result! I cannot wait to open this book the week before Christmas and start making all the recipes I’ve kept in it. The best part is that this project is quick and easy. It uses the brand new Polar Expressions line for Imaginsce. It’s one of my favorite Christmas lines we picked up this year. Using the extra supplies i even made a card! I’ve added a picture of the card and final product at the end. ENJOY!

Instructions

Cover:

1. Cover outside of Mug chipboard with Comfy Cozy paper (red side).  Put Sugar Sprinkles (blue side) paper on inside of mug.  Sand edges to fit.  Ink edges if desired.  Add a semi-circle of brown Jolly Jingle paper to the front of the mug to look like hot chocolate.  Place a 5 1/8” x 2” strip of Warm Woolen Mittens (green side) across front, centered.  Decorate front with red and green poinsettia flowers, polar bear chipboard sticker and Happy Christmas chipboard sticker.  Add a large i-top brad to center of poinsettias.

2. Cut the So Beary Merry and Pine and Peppermint papers into 10” x 6”.  Fold them in half and cut apart at the fold.  Cut Flannel PJ’s paper to 10” x 6” and fold in half, do not cut – this will be used as the center pages.   

Page One:

So Beary Merry page (brown side):  Embellish a 2” x 5” piece of So Beary Merry paper (red side) with blue Winter Wonderland ribbon, string of lights & peppermint candy rub-ons and peppermint chipboard stickers and attach on three sides to bottom of page to make pocket.  Add 4” x 5” piece of Comfy Cozy paper cut in the shape of a tag.

So Beary Merry page (red side):  Place a 4” x 5 ¼” All Aglow (green side) paper piece.  Add a 3 ½” x 4 ½” Pine and Peppermint (striped side) piece on top of that.  Make a 4” x 4” tag of Sugar Sprinkles paper.  Place 3” x 3” red piece on top.  Add two inches of green ribbon to tag.  Embellish page with stocking chipboard sticker.

Page Three:

Pine and Peppermint page (hat side):  Place a 2” x 6” strip of Flannel PJ’s (white side) paper on right side ½ “ from edge.  Attach at the top and bottom to allow 4” x 5” piece of red Frosted Forest paper to slide under strip.  Decorate strip and tag with rub-ons and hot chocolate mug chipboard sticker.

 

Page Four & Five:

 

Pine and Peppermint page (striped side):  Cut a 4 ½” circle of Twinkle Toes paper, red side up.  Attach to striped side of page by placing adhesive around lower half of circle and attaching ½” from bottom edge.  Attach a 1 ¾” x 5” strip of Fun Drops paper across center of circle.  Cut a 3 ½” x 5” piece of Sugar Sprinkles paper into tag shape.  Add Red Lights ribbon to tag and wreath chipboard sticker to center of green strip.  Place tag behind circle

Page Five:

Folded Flannel PJ’s page (white side):  Cut 5”x 5” square of Warm Woolen Mittens.  Fold down right top corner – about 2 ¼” from the bottom right hand side.  Place small i-top brad and flower in corner.  Make a pocket by attaching square to page at sides and bottom.  Cut a tag from 3” x 5” piece of Pine and Peppermint paper.  Add green ribbon to tag top.  Embellish top of page with mitten rub-ons.

 

Page Six and Seven:

Folded Flannel PJ’s paper (red side):  Place a 2” x 10” strip of Pine and Peppermint (striped side) paper across center about 1 ½” from bottom edge, attach at outer edges and center of folded page.  Page Six: place a 4” x 4” piece of Fun Drops paper centered over strip.  Make a 3” x  5” tag out of All Aglow, green side.  Add blue ribbon to tag and place behind square.  Embellish with stocking chipboard sticker.     Page Seven:  Make a 4” x 5 ½” tag with rounded top out of Flannel PJ’s paper (white side).  Add string of lights rub-ons to bottom of tag and Merry & Bright chipboard sticker to center of strip.

Page Eight & Nine:

Flannel PJ’s paper (white side):  Take a 5” x 4” rectangle of Jolly Jingle paper.  Fold down top edge ½” to show brown.  Attach on three sides to create pocket.  Make a   4 ¼” x 5” piece of Comfy Cozy paper (blue side) for tag.  Round corners of tag with a corner rounder.  Attach a small piece of red lights ribbon on top of tag with small brad.  Add mittens rub-ons across top of page.

Page Nine:

Pine and Peppermint paper (striped side):  Take 5” x 5” square of Frosted Forest paper (red side) and tear off piece diagonally.  Attach to page along sides and bottom to create pocket.  Place 1” x 5” strip of green Warm Wollen Mittens across the bottom edge.  Add rub-ons.  Place 4” x 5” piece of Fun Drops paper behind torn edge pocket.

Page Ten & Eleven:

Pine and Peppermint paper (green hat side):  Insert four small brads into corners of 2” x 5” piece of Flannel PJ’s paper (white side).  Attach strip to page (lower center).  Slide a 4” x 5” piece of striped Pine and Peppermint paper for tag.  Add a small piece of blue ribbon to top of tag with staple.  Embellish with “Be Merry” stamp and rub-ons.

Page Eleven:

So Beary Merry paper (red side):  Take a 5” x 6” piece of All Bundled Up paper, round top corners with corner rounder.  Fold down 1 ¼” from the top edge to show the blue snowflakes side.  Add red and blue striped ribbon below blue fold down.  Tie in place.  Attach paper on three sides to create pocket.  Place 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Flannel PJ’s  paper (red side) inside pocket.  Staple small piece of ribbon to tag.  Embellish with rub-ons.

Page Twelve:

So Beary Merry paper (brown side):  Take a 2” x 2” square of Pine and Peppermint stripe.  Cut in half diagonally.  Do the same to a 2 ½” x 2 ½” square of So Beary Merry paper (red side).  Layer these with striped paper on top and attach to opposite corners.  Add rub-ons to corners.  Slip a photo under the corners. 

Assembly:

Punch 2 holes in each page – 1 ¾” from each end.  Thread red and green Holiday Trimmings ribbon through holes and tie knots on the front side making sure you leave enough slack so that you can open the book.

FINISHED PRODUCTS::

1 Trim bar code strip off 12” x 12” sheet of Rob Roy.

2 Using a sharp craft knife carefully cut a wave pattern along all the edges of sheet of Blue Moon (leaving as much as you can).

3 Mount Blue Moon piece to center of sheet of Rob Roy.

4 Take 6½” x 10¾” piece of Lemon Drop and mount it horizontally onto section of Blue Moon, approximately 2” down from the top of the main page so that its right edge is flush with the right edge of the page as shown.

5 Mount 10¾” x 2” strip of white cardstock in the same manner, but measuring 2” up from the bottom of the page as shown.6

 Mount one photo, slightly angled, onto right side of Lemon Drop section as shown.7

 Following the lines shown, cut a waved strip of Tutti Frutti 12” long and two “blocks” deep.

8 Mount strip of Tutti Frutti from right edge to left edge so that it joins the Lemon Drop and white cardstock sections as shown. The Tutti Frutti strip will partially overlap the photo.

9 Mount second photo to Lemon Drop section so that it slightly overlaps both Tutti Frutti wave and the first photo slightly. (The remaining section of Lemon Drop to the left of the photo should measure approximately 3”.)

10 Slightly trim off edge of large 4” circle of white cardstock. Mount it so that its straight edge is flush with the left side of the second photo.

11 Using pigment inks, color the alpha stickers to match the colors of the papers. Here we used aqua and red.

12 Mount title into center of white cardstock circle as shown. Finish title with black journaling pen.

13 In upper right corner of Lemon Drop section, mount strip of Hoboken horizontally as shown, flush with the right edge of the page.

14 Using craft knife, cut one edge of 4½” strip of Rob Roy into a wave and mount it with waved edge up, to strip of Hoboken.

15 Join the two strips just adhered with small strip of Cherry Cola.

16 Slightly cut off part of 1½“circle of Orange Cream to leave a flat edge. Mount onto piece of Lemon Drop in upper left with straight edges flush as shown.

17 Cut 1” circles of Cherry Cola in half. Mount one half at strips of pa-per in upper right section of Lemon Drop and the other in the lower right side of white cardstock section as shown.

18 Mount 1½” circle of Lemon Drop slightly overlapping 1” circle of Rob Roy. Mount circle unit as shown in the lower left of white card-stock section as shown.

19 Mount 1” circle of Rob Roy slightly overlapping 1½” circle of Cherry Cola. Mount at large white circle as shown.

20 Add ½” circles of Blue Moon and Rob Roy where shown.

21 Add brads as desired.

22 Finish with adding journaling lines and journaling then faux stitch-ing all using black journaling pen where shown as desired.

Summer has arrived! I bet that all of you are as excited as me for the warm sun, and the carefree spirit that summer brings along. I’m sure were looking forward to all the fun and exciting vacations that are coming up. But with vacation comes chaos. It takes a lot of effor t to plan every vacation. So this summer take this vacation planner with you wherever you go.  I know I tend to get most ideas, whenever im leasting reading for them. Inside, there is a side to put a pad of paper. Jot down all your ideas, to make the best vacation possible. Enjoy planning!
